Carrie Fisher’s Brother Discusses Leia’s “Magical” Return To STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

When it was announced that Carrie Fisher would appear in Star Wars: Episode IX as Leia fans were surprised and excited! It's certainly something I wasn't expecting. It was already reported that she will be brought back thanks to unused footage that was shot for both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. I'm really curious to see how that footage will end up being implemented in Episode IX and how footage from two separate films will fit into the story that Episode IX will tell.

Carrie Fisher's brother Todd is incredibly happy about the fact that his sister will be included in the final film in the Saga. He explains that it's "important to us all" that she is being included. During an interview with ET Canada, he said:

"My sister and Princess Leia are the same thing. And the idea of that story stopping and her not carrying forward is very disturbing to me. It’s just awesome that it worked out this way, and thanks to J.J. Abrams, it’s just going to be, I’m sure, very magical and important to us all."

Early on in the development process, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that Carrie Fisher wouldn’t appear in the film. But, Todd says that even though it wasn’t easy, they figured out a way to make it work:

"They arranged it – the script and what was shot – to bring her into the story in a way as if they had filmed it yesterday. Isn’t that magical? That the things she shot a few years ago are frozen in time so to speak, and then they’ve been reborn into the final Star Wars where she is truly the character that needed to continue."

When expanding on his feelings toward the whole thing, he said:

"We are sensitive to how things are done and why they are done. This is one that you have got to embrace with a big hug."

Star Wars: Episode 9 hits theaters on December 20, 2019.

New Photo of Tom Hardy as Al Capone in FONZO and His Voice is Based on Bugs Bunny

A new photo has surfaced from the upcoming film Fonzo and it gives us a new look at Tom Hardy in the role of Al Capone. He looks good in the role, and I just want to point out that those aren’t wrinkles on his face, those are scars, which are the result of Capone insulting a woman and getting his face sliced up by her brother. This earned him the nickname "Scarface."

But it sounds like he's going to bring an interesting voice to the Capone. Apparently his voice is based on the popular Looney Tunes character Bugs Bunny. It's hard to imagine that when you look at his hardened face in the photo above, but in a recent Esquire profile, Hardy says that he was mostly inspired by Bugs Bunny for his role as Capone.

The person interviewing him even got got to listen to his voice and they said, "sure enough, he sounds like the cartoon rabbit with a severe case of vocal fry." So, that's going to be interesting to hear. Hardy sure does love to play with different voices for the characters he plays.

Fonzo was directed by Josh Trank. Yes, someone actually hired him to make another movie after the Fantastic Four disaster. Maybe this will be better, though!

The story takes place near the end of Capone's career and begins when he's 47 years-old after he spent over 10 years in prison. Here's a brief description of the film:

A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al “Fonzo” Capone (Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Capone’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.

This is a time in Capone's life that has never really been explored before so it should make for an interesting story and film. Capone spent the final years of his life in Florida and it wasn't easy for him. He ended up getting syphilis and because it was untreated for years his mind ended up deteriorating. Near the end of his life, he had the mental capacity of a child and he would apparently spend lots of time talking to his dead associates. Capone died in 1947.

The movie also stars Linda Cardellini as Capone’s long-suffering wife Mae, Matt Dillon as his closest friend Johnny, Kyle MacLachlan as his doctor Karlock, and Kathrine Narducci as Rosie, one of his sisters.

The movie will be released at some point in 2019. What are your thoughts on how Tom Hardy plans on playing Capone with a Bugs Bunny voice?

Wow! Loki Could Have Had a Completely Different Look in The MCU!

Here's an early piece of concept art of Loki that has surfaced from Marvel's former Head of Visual Development Charlie Wen. This art was done for the very first Thor movie and as you can see, Loki could have had a crazy drastic different look! This would have been a very crazy and weird direction to go for the character. The artist says that he wanted to share the looniest version of the character that he came up with.

"Wacky Loki! My first sketch of him as someone a bit off for the first #thor There were other options but this is the looniest one so I wanted to share. As I think of his backstory and focused on the manipulative bent than his relationship with his bro Thor which develops later, I put more character depth in his final version. At this time I also wanted to play with the idea that Asgard had magic based on science beyond human tech understanding. I’ll post the final Thor I Lokis next!"

In this image, the God of Mischief is like a half cyborg, and he definitely looks a bit off. I love the look of the character that they ultimately used in the Marvel films, but this one would have certainly been interesting!

Paul Rudd is Set to Star in The Netflix Comedy Series LIVING WITH YOURSELF

Paul Rudd (Ant-Man and The Wasp, Mute) is set to star in a new comedy series coming to Netflix called Living With Yourself. The series comes from the directors of Little Miss Sunshine, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, and here's what was revealed about the show:

Rudd will play dual roles in the series, which follows a man struggling in life, who undergoes a new treatment to become a better person.

That sounds like an interesting premise. The series was created by Timothy Greenberg and all eight episodes in the series will be directed by Dayton and Faris.

As a fan of Paul Rudd, I'll be looking forward to seeing how this turns out. This isn't the first Netflix project that he's been involved with. He also starred in Duncan Jones' Mute and reprised his role in the Wet Hot American Summer revival.

Lord Drakkon Has a New Look on the Cover for MIGHTY MORPHIN #30

Shattered Grid is coming to an end. We have Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #30 and then the finale and that’s it. When last we saw Lord Drakkon, he started putting the rush on finishing his goal to access the Morphing Grid. He was also in pretty bad shape as his body was tearing itself apart. However, it looks like he may have worked some things out as he can be seen on the cover of MMPR #30 with an awesome new costume!

Now, we don’t know if this is his final form or just an improved version like Cell when he got Android 17. You can see that instead of white, gold, and green, Drakkon’s color scheme has changed to black and gold with some more orangish hues by the emblem on his chest. Speaking of his chest, his shield underwent a redesign as well to be a bit more menacing. He looks ready to murder some rangers as his throne room has piles of Ranger helmets from all different eras and colors with the Green Dragon Ranger helmet under his foot. Talk about an amazing cover! I can’t wait to see what happens in the issue with all the Rangers launching an assault on Drakkon’s fortress. Do you like the new Drakkon?

MMPR #30 releases August 15, 2018.

Fan-Made INFINITY WAR Trailer Puts a LOGAN Spin on the Film

thanos.jpg

Logan was praised more than probably any comic book movie before it. I think part of its success came from the amazing trailers that came out. Well, someone has decided to give Infinity War a new trailer; Logan-style. The new trailer focuses on Thanos’ philosophy and some of the inner turmoils he deals with in Infinity War and is set to the hauntingly beautiful “Hurt” cover performed by Johnny Cash. If you need me, I’ll be rewatching the movie now.

MAN AT ARMS: REFORGED Made Escanor’s Divine Axe Rhitta

I love The Seven Deadly Sins but am really sad that the dub for the second season hasn’t been released yet. However, I’ve still heard awesome things about the Lion Sin of Pride, Escanor through comments sections. That’s why I got excited when I saw the guys on Man at Arms: Reforged, decided to make Escanor’s axe, Divine Axe Rhitta. This is possibly the most requested build I’ve seen them do as the first 15 seconds are full of putting up comments requesting it. Normally, that part of an episode is about 2 or 3 seconds, sometimes up to 5 seconds on the more requested builds. This build does not disappoint. They build a massive axe that must weigh a ridiculous amount and it looks amazing! Hopefully, the second season dub will come out soon so I can see this thing in action. Which of the Sacred Treasures should they do next?

Artist Jeff Victor is Kickstarting THE ULTIMATE POP CULTURE EVOLUTION Art Book

Over the years I've shared several pieces of art from artist Jeff Victor. He's best known for his "Evolution" art series' and he has launched a Kickstarter for a new art book called The Ultimate Pop Culture Evolution. Victor has such an adorably charming art style that a lot of people seem to love and this new art book of his is going to be filled with it! You can see an example of his work below. This is what the artist had to say about his book:

Hi, my name is Jeff Victor.  I'm a Los Angeles based illustrator who has worked as a character designer in animation and video games, and currently working as a children's book illustrator. I'm a huge fan of pop culture, and I love drawing my art series called "Pop Culture Evolutions", which are cartoon timelines of famous actors and fictional characters. I need your help to fund my new project, "The Ultimate Pop Culture Evolution".  It's an all new book featuring over 1200 cartoon characters in a year by year timeline. It's 100% never before seen art, featuring the most memorable characters in pop culture over the years.
Drawing an Evolution of this size and scope has been a passion project of mine for a long time. It's been the most challenging artistic task I've ever attempted, and trust me when I say you've never seen anything like this. The book will be hardbound with a spot UV gloss cover, measure 9x9", and feature 112 jam packed pages of full color art.

If you've been looking for a way to play your favorite games from the Floppy Disk area, a solution might be simpler than you think! I personally am not that technically inclined, nor do I really care for Floppy Disk games that much, but even I think I'm capable of putting in the grunt work to make this hack work, which is actually really impressive.
