Konami has finally stepped out from their silent hills (haha) and provided us with a release date for Metal Gear Survive on PS4 and Xbox One. In the United States it will launch February 20 and in Europe it will be released February 22 2018.

Should you preorder, you will get the nifty Day 1 Survival Pack indicated above. This will treat you to the following:

  • Four gold-plated weapons (bat, sledgehammer, survival machete, and survival spear);
  • Two gestures (happy and thumbs-up);
  • Four survival scarves (green, blue, pink, and silver);
  • Kabuki face paint;
  • Mother Base nameplate;
  • The Boxman [The Orange] accessory.

Last year, we were teased with one of the first trailers for MG Survive, just before Konami informed us at E3 that the game was to be delayed until 2018. This is the first game to be produced since Hideo Kojima left Konami, and he made sure to poke fun at MG Survive at a Tokyo Game Show last year. That hasn't stopped Konami thankfully, and it looks like we are all set for release come February 2018.

In case you missed it, you can watch 15 minutes of gameplay here

Are you looking forward to this upcoming release? Do you have any reservations about it? Let us know.

Rainn Wilson Wants A Harry Mudd Spinoff Following His Appearance In STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

Following his appearance as Harry Mudd on a recent episode of Star Trek: Discovery, actor Rainn Wilson is wanting the character to get a spin-off series. Wilson recently talked about his hopes and aspirations for the character in a recent interview and we got what his plans are for his character (via Comicbook) below:

“This is what I would like to see in season two, episode four or so: They bump into Mudd, he's got a merchant ship, he's got a crazy crew on the merchant ship, and he's getting into all kinds of trouble traveling around the galaxy trying to do little deals. And, boom! We’ve set ourselves up for a spin-off show. The Harry Mudd spin-off show. That would be my ideal.”

To me, it sounds like Wilson is trying to capture a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe in the Star Trek universe. I'm kind of on the fence about the idea personally, although it would be cool to see how Harry Mudd always gets himself into the predicaments he's in as opposed to hearing about it in the aftermath. I could see that making for an entertaining series!

On the same token, you don't see Star Trek shows operating outside of the realm of Star I don't see this one really happening. What about you?

Taika Waititi Talks About Wanting to Direct a Crazy and Funny BLACK WIDOW Movie

We already learned that Thor: Ragnarok director wants to direct another Thor movie, but there's another character in the MCU that he'd like to play with as well. During an interview with io9, he surprisingly revealed that he would also want to make a Black Widow movie, and he would certainly bring something different and unique to the character.

When asked what other characters he would like to play with in the MCU that he thought would fit his brand of humor, he said:

"In all honesty, I reckon I could probably bring something pretty unique to any of the franchises. So I’d love to see Black Widow."

That's definitely an answer that I don't think fans would have expected, but he goes on to talk about how he would handle the character, saying:

“[I’d like to see] Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be. Because we know her story and it’s very sullen and very dark and her history is very dark. But! What’s the funny version of that? What’s the more entertaining version of that?”

After seeing what he did with Thor: Ragnarok, I'd actually be very opening to seeing a Black Widow film directed by Waititi. If he threw Hawkeye into the mix, it would probably be even better. His vision is so opposite of what Black Widow is, which is what makes this whole concept so intriguing. The director goes on to explain:

"I really go for the underdog. [And] I think there’s a way in with any of the characters. You just have to find it and find what honors what’s already there with the source material but also brings it into a more entertaining form for the audience."

This is all just hypothetic talk and we'll probably never see Taika Waitit direct a Black Widow movie, but it's fun to think about how that could turn out. It just seems like a concept that would be way too insane for Marvel, but ya never know!

What do you think of Waititi's take on Black Widow?

Marvel’s RUNAWAYS Gets a New Full Trailer and it Actually Looks Like a Solid Series

Hulu has released the first full trailer for their upcoming Marvel series Runaways and I actually like what I'm seeing from! It looks like it could be a great series. The new trailer is packed full of new footage that offers us more insight into the story and the characters. The trailer shows us what the villainous Pride parents will be engaged in and it teases the powers of their kids.

It shows Molly (Allegra Acosta) summon her super strength, Karolina (Virginia Gardner) chaging into her Majesdanian form, Chase (Gregg Sulkin) in action with his fistigons, and Nico (Lyrica Okano) summoning the Staff of One. It's also fun to see Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Spike actor James Marsters in the trailer.

Runaways is based on the comic created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona and this is the brief plot summary of the series:

Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. What if you found out they actually were?  “Marvel’s Runaways” is the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe–their parents.

The parents are part of a criminal organization known as The Pride, which is "a group which hosts an annual "charity" gathering that serves as a meeting place for nefarious time-travelers, wizards, mad scientists, aliens, and mutants." Apparently they also have to make human sacrafices.

The series also stars Rhenzy Feliz (Teen Wolf, Casual) as Alex Wilder, Lyrica Okano (The Affair, Unforgettable) as Nico Minoru–tough, Ariela Barer (New Girl, One Day at a Time) as Gert Yorkes, and Julian McMahon Jonah, a mysterious figure who plays an important role in the children's rebellion against their parents.

The series is being developed by The O.C. and Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. They will executive produce alongside Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Marvel’s Runaways premieres on Hulu on November 21st.

If You Hope to See More VERONICA MARS Kristen Bell Says “It’s Going To Happen”

Just the other day I was having a conversation with my wife about Veronica Mars and if we would see the character return for another movie or series. I'm a huge fan of the franchise and I'd love to see the character's story continue. According to Kristen Bell, one day it will happen.

Everyone involved with the series and film are determined to make it happen to make their cult fan base happy. They love these characters just as much as we do!

The fan base was so rabid for more Veronic Mars that they came through and helped fund the movie that was released in 2014 through Kickstarter. They managed to get $5,702,153 from the fans! That's pretty incredible.

Actor Ryan Hanson, who plays Dick Casablancas on the series, was recently promoting his upcoming YouTube Red series called Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television in an interview with Indiewire. During that conversation, Hanson called up Kristen Bell, so that she could confirm that she was still pursuing a way to continue the Veronica Mars series. She said:

“We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”

She's pretty confident in her statement and I hope she's right! She goes on to say that when they do something again, they won't make a movie, and they won't make the fans pay for it again.

“[Series creator] Rob [Thomas] and I email about it every couple of months or so… And personally I think, and I think Rob probably agrees, is that (a) we’ll never make the fans pay for it again, and (b) the format works better as an episodic [series].”

This next time around they would want to do it as a mini-series, which I think would be perfect! Who knows when or if this will ever come together, but as a fan of the series, I hope it eventually happens.

They should go talk to Netflix! If they are willing to do a series like Fuller House, why the hell wouldn't they want to do a Veronica Mars revival!?

The show will consist of seven episodes and they will all be available to watch on October 27th, which in the same day Stranger Things 2. Obviously, you won't want to watch the after show until after you are finished watching the entire second season of Stranger Things because of spoilers.

Guests on the after-show will include creators Ross and Matt Duffer and executive producer and director Shawn Levy, along with several of the cast members. Those cast members include Millie Bobby Brown, Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen, Natalia Dyer, Brett Gelman, David Harbour, Randy Havens, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Dacre Montgomery, Paul Reiser, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Finn Wolfhard.

The opening visuals were created by an actual Stranger Things fan, graphic artist Wahyu "Pinot" Ichwandardi, and the opening theme music is a remix composed by another self-proclaimed "superfan," Daniel Rosenfeld."

Below you can watch a little sneak peek, giving you an idea of what the show will be like. Does it look like an after-show that you'd want to watch?

Former NeoGAF Employees Launch A New Website, And They’re Gaining Users Quickly

After all the drama that’s gone down at NeoGAF over the past few days (you can catch up here) a new website has surfaced that is very similar to its predecessor. Resetera is being run by all the employees who walked out of NeoGAF in response to his sexual harassment claims, and has already gained 7,100 users in its short time online.

As for NeoGAF, the site is back up and running, although not without controversy. NeoGAF founder Tyler Malka has since issued a statement on the accusations lodged against him, and has begun deleting threads regarding the incident, which has irked several long-time users. Many have voiced that if Malka would’ve left the threads up and let the drama proceed things would not be as bad as they are now.

That said, it’s not as though NeoGAF is hurting. The site still has 195,000+ users and while it’s hard to say how many of those are still active following the drama, it’s still a far larger number than 7,100. Currently, one of the top threads on the site is titled “I’m Glad Some Cry-Babies Have Left/Self-Banned” which might give folks a good idea of where they’re at right now.

I personally have never been a user of NeoGAF, and only visit when a bit of exclusive news to gaming manages to wind up there. Is there anyone who visits the site that can attest to these changes? Has the site changed for the better or worse following the mod split. Will this whole thing blow over in a couple weeks?

Kevin Feige Hilariously Responds To Question about INHUMANS and Addresses Criticism That All Marvel Movies Are The Same

As you know, Inhumans was originally supposed to be a feature film from Marvel Studios with Vin Diesel in the role of Black Bolt. For some reason, that film was canceled and then turned into a TV series that, unfortunately, turned out to be a huge disappointment.

During a recent interview with Uproxx, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about the series and if he wished he would have had the chance to make the movie. The response he gives to the question is pretty funny. Here's the question that was asked, and Feige's answer:

I know you’re a huge Inhumans fan, and you lost that property to TV. Now, with that doing how it’s doing on television, do you look at that and go, well, maybe it’s best we didn’t do that one? Or do you still wish you had that property because you think you could have really knocked out of the park?

[Laughs] You’re breaking up, Mike. I can’t hear you. You’re breaking up…

I think it's safe to say that Marvel Studios would have given us a great Inhumans movie! Who knows, maybe one day they will get their chance to do it right and pretend like the TV series never happened.

In the same interview, Feige addresses the fan criticism that Marvel movies are the same and that they all have a lot of similarities. Marvel certainly does have a formula that they follow that works for them, but their films certainly are different. It's just like Pixar, they have a formula that works for them, but all their films are unique. When asked about the criticism that's out there, Feige said:

"I think it’s just the way we make the movies. I think all the movies are relatively different. I think there’s a narrative that people like to write about because they’re all produced by the same team and they all inhabit the same fictional cinematic universe. That we look for common similarities. And I’m not saying there aren’t common similarities throughout it, but I think Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming are two totally different types of movies. They’re both fun. People both enjoy them. Is that a similarity? If so, I’ll take it. If that’s a criticism, I’ll take that, too. But really, yeah, Homecoming, Ragnarok, Panther, into Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp after that. And a ’90s-set Captain Marvel after that; these are six very different movies. If what they have in common is they’re all really enjoyable and fun to watch, then I’ll take it."

Feige makes some great points there. In the end, all that really matters is that the fans are enjoying the films that they are making and Marvel is succeeding in that.

Taika Waititi on His Personal Connection To AKIRA and How Slow WE’RE WOLVES Is Progressing

Taika Waititi's Marvel Cinematic Universe directorial debut Thor: Ragnarok arrives in theaters next week and will surely gain the New Zealander a mass of new fans. Getting that amount of attention will likely earn him other big-budget directing gigs.

The biggest one that Waititi is reportedly considering to direct is the live-action Akira film, which Warner Bros. has been developing for years. Whether that happens or not, things aren’t looking too promising for the long-rumored sequel to What We Do In The Shadows titled We're Wolves.

i09 spoke to Waititi about Thor, but asked him if he had a personal connection to Akira. He responded:

"My mom took me to see Akira in the cinema in 1989, or whenever it came out in New Zealand, and it was a huge turning point in my life for what I imagined animation to be and realizing what it could be. It’s stuck with me this whole time and I feel, visually, the film was such an amazing thing.

So I read the [comic] books and I was always more curious as to what a broader adaptation of the books might look like instead of a remake of the film, which doesn’t need to be remade. But I do feel there could be a cool live action adaptation of the books."

It is not a sure thing that he will be attached to that movie, but it seems possible it could be his next movie. And even if it’s not, his next film will not be We’re Wolves:

“It is slowly developing at the slow pace Jemaine [Clement] and I usually work, which is excruciatingly slow,. So while we do these things on the side we do slowly chip away at that thing and write down ideas. But we usually write down like one sentence a month.”

Not the most promising thing to hear.

In the meantime we have a pretty great film to look forward to, Thor: Ragnarok, opens November 3rd.
