Ron Howard “Impressed” with Donald Glover’s Work on HAN SOLO Film

Ron Howard continues to delight Star Wars fans with photos from the set of the Han Solo movie he has taken as director. Usually, he shares the photo on Twitter or Instagram showing behind the scenes looks at sets, props, and water bottles, but recently Howard had nothing but praise for one particular co-star: Donald Glover. Glover who plays a young Lando recently wrapped filming and Howard shared a photo of the two of them together, writing:

"Wildly impressive @donaldglover wrapped his work on #UntitledHanSoloMovie last night. We're all gonna miss you Donald!"

Glover looks great in the role and it's going to be cool to see what he does with this character. The Han Solo movie was originally directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, but the movie encountered a sudden roadblock when Lucasfilm fired both of them with only a few weeks of production left.

The Han Solo movie is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 25, 2018

Josh Brolin Teases Exciting Details About AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Josh Brolin is now double dipping in Marvel cinema as he is playing Cable in Deadpool 2 and the cosmic conqueror Thanos The Mad Titan in Avengers: Infinity War.

In a recent interview with EW, Brolin shared his experience filming Avengers: Infinity War:

“I love doing Avengers, it’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had. I just saw a little snippet of it, and it was amazing. The cutting-edge technology of what they’re doing — what I’ve seen is absolutely mind-blowing. When I saw it on screen, it was me, but also not like me. It’s really strange.”

He also said that the Infinity War footage that was screened at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 doesn't even compare to the more polished version he's recently seen:

“Not even close. What they saw is not even close.”

That is super exciting because I saw the Infinity War footage at SDCC and I'm still recovering from how incredible it was! It was like nothing we've seen so far in the MCU, and now, to hear Brolin describe that as "not even close" to the new version? WOW!

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Director Tobe Hooper Passes Away at 74

It's with a heavy heart that I have to tell you director Tobe Hooper has passed away at the age of 74. Hooper was a pioneer in the horror genre and started his career directing a little film called The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That movie was one of the most disturbing and terrifying horror movies that I saw when I was growing up. I remember the first time I watched the movie on an old VHS tape at a friends house when I was about 13-years old. I'll never forget that night because all of us were too scared to go to sleep! In my mind, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the truly great horror films in cinema.

Poltergeist was another classic horror film that he is credited for directing. We all know Steven Spielberg played a heavy role in helping direct the film, but Hooper was the acting director of the film and it was such an incredibly fun and scary horror adventure movie! Back in 2015, Spielberg wrote a letter to Hooper that was published in THR giving Hooper the credit he deserved saying:

“Regrettably, some of the press have misunderstood the rather unique, creative relationship which you and I shared throughout the making of ‘Poltergeist.’ I enjoyed your openness in allowing me, as producer and writer, a wide berth for creative involvement, just as I know you were happy with the freedom you had to direct Poltergeist so wonderfully.Through the screenplay you accepted a vision of this very intense movie from the start, and as the director, you delivered the goods. You performed responsibly and professionally throughout, and I wish you great success on your next project.”

Some of the other films he directed include Funhouse, Lifeforce, Invaders From Mars, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Salem's Lot, Night Terrors, The Mangler, and the last film he directed was the 2013 film Djinn

News of Hooper's death comes from Variety, and they report that the filmmaker died in Sherman Oaks, California by way of the Los Angeles County Coroner. However, a cause of death has not been revealed.

Hooper made some awesomely scary films that messed me up when I was growing up and his legacy will live on through those films!

Our hearts and prayers go out to Hooper's family and friends.

Cinema Sins Finally Tackles POWER RANGERS And It’s Brutal

Usually, I'm not one to post Cinema Sins just for the sake of posting it, but this episode is really spot on. I was ready to turn my brain off for Power Rangers going in, but man, this film really requires you to shut things off. Ultimately, I had to tap out with twenty minutes left in the film, and I definitely don't think I'm in for the sequel. Not trying to throw shade at anyone who enjoyed it, but I think I'm good with remembering my Power Rangers from the 90s. Anyone on board with that will surely enjoy the video below.

Road Trip! You Can Watch Steven Spielberg’s CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND at Devil’s Tower!

As we've already reported, Steven Spielberg's classic sci-fi film Close Encounters of the Third Kind is getting a remastered 4K re-release. I'm incredibly excited about this because I've never seen the movie on the big screen before and it's one of my favorites.

For those of you hardcore film fans that want to take it to the next level of geekdom, SYFY and Alamo Drafthouse have teamed up for a screening event at Devil's Tower in Wyoming! I'm sure you're all aware of the Devil's Tower and how it fits in with the movie, if not, why are you even reading this article?

This is the perfect opportunity to get a group of friends together and embark on a road trip to Wyoming to watch Close Encounter of the Third Kind at The Devil's Tower.

The screening will take place on September 2nd and the experience will also include tons of mashed potatoes to eat and sculpt and roast some marshmallows. Here’s the official press release with more details from the Alamo Drafthouse blog:

SYFY and Alamo Drafthouse are partnering to present the SYFY25 Screening Series, a fun-filled retrospective of genre classics to celebrate the network’s upcoming 25th anniversary.
First up, it’s an incredible CLOSE ENCOUNTER…
It’s been four decades since Steven Spielberg first wowed the world with the modern marvel of filmmaking that is CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. This September, pack up your wood paneled station wagon and join us for a 40th anniversary celebration of the film at a location that means something, a location that’s important: Wyoming’s own Devil’s Tower.
Heed the call, all you Roy Nearys out there.
On Labor Day weekend, we’re proud to present CLOSE ENCOUNTERS at the base of the actual Devil’s Tower, the iconic rock formation central to the film. Seeing Spielberg’s sci-fi stunner on the big screen is a breathtaking encounter all its own, but watching the film at the base of the real landmark out in the rugged beauty of Wyoming? Well, that’s an experience almost as mind-blowing as actually making extraterrestrial contact.
First staged in 2005 as part of our inaugural Rolling Roadshow tour, we’ve been itching to do an encore of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS at Devil’s Tower due to fan demand.
Speaking of, at the site, we’ll have tons of the smashed spuds on hand for some epic sculpting sessions, drones buzzing us overhead like alien spacecraft, and for all we know there could be an actual alien visit while we’re there.
Pitch a tent at the nearby KOA and stay the night out under the stars with us. We’ll even be hosting an old fashioned campfire gathering there after the movie where everyone can toast marshmallows, sing songs, and share their inspiring and/or terrifying stories of alien encounters.
Needless to say, this night’s truly going to be out of this world. Grab your ticket and come watch this classic — and the skies — with us.
