Richard Armitage Was Up For the Role of Batman Before Ben Affleck Was Cast

The Hobbit star Richard Armitage recently confirmed that he was up for the role of Batman in Zack Snyder's films before Ben Affleck agreed to play the character. Apparently, the actor got pretty close to actually landing the role. During an interview with Digital Spy the actor said:

"There was a little flurry once upon a time just after I'd come out of The Hobbit where I auditioned for Batman. It was at the same time that Christian Bale was leaving, there were about five or six actors that were in line for that character, so I went through quite a process with that."

Even though Armitage didn't get the opportunity to play the caped crusader, he's still fascinated with the character, saying:

"The sort of darker side of a man, and the desire to right some wrongs... I think it's really interesting, that character Bruce Wayne."

It would have certainly been interesting to see Armitage in the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. I think he's a solid actor and I thought he was great in The Hobbit films. Maybe Armitage could have pulled it off, but we'll never know.

Ben Affleck ended up landing the role and I personally liked Affleck in the role of Batman. I thought he was a good choice to play the character. I know not everyone will agree with me on that, but it doesn't sound like he'll be playing the character much longer anyway.

Most recently, Armitage provided the voice of Wolverine in Marvel's podcast series Wolverine: The Long Night. With Hugh Jackman having retired from the role in Logan, Armitage admits that he'd be interested in taking on the role if given the opportunity:

"It would be a tall order, wouldn't it, to follow Hugh Jackman's performance? We look a little bit alike, which I think would be a bit weird. But of course, it would be amazing. It's a great character, a really great character."

Do you think Armitage would have made a good Batman? Do you think he could pull off the role of Wolverine if the opportunity presented himself?

Trailer For Finn Wolfhard and Vanessa Hudgens’ Dog Comedy DOG DAYS

trailer-for-finn-wolfhard-and-vanessa-hudgens-dog-comedy-dog-days-social.jpg

If you're a fan of dogs and enjoy watching movies about dogs then Dog Days is definitely the movie for you. The film is a heartwarming comedy that "follows the lives of multiple dog owners and their beloved fluffy pals around sunny Los Angeles. When these human and canine's paths start to intertwine, their lives begin changing in ways they never expected."

The movie looks like it could be decent and it also comes with a fun ensemble cast that includes Finn Wolfhard, Nina Dobrev, Vanessa Hudgens, Eva Longoria, Adam Pally, Rob Corddry, Tone Bell, Jon Bass, Michael Cassidy, Thomas Lennon, Tig Notaro, and Ron Cephas.

I'll definitely be seeing the film because my girls love watching anything with dogs in it. The movie was produced by LD Entertainment (which has also produced The Zookeeper's Wife, Jackie, and Megan Leavey). It was directed by Ken Marino and will be released on August 10th.

Remember That Time Jason Voorhees Showed Up On The Arsenio Hall Show?

If you don't remember, or you've never seen this, in 1989 Jason Voorhees appeared on The Arsenio Hall show to promote Friday The 13th Part 8. It's pretty damn funny watching Hall try to talk to him and getting nothing back in return. Jason doesn't say a word. He just sits there making Hall uncomfortable and giving him that sinister look.

I remember seeing this as a kid and I thought it was the coolest thing to see Jason on The Arsenio Hall Show! I love coming across old stuff like this that I forgot about that sparks memories from growing up.

Watch 32 Stuntpeople Set Themselves on Fire To Set a Record For Most Simultaneous Full-Body Burns

Here's a video of 32 stuntmen and women lighting themselves on fire to set the Guinness World Record for most simultaneous full-body burns. Each person on fire had to remain flaming for a full 30 seconds for their participation to count, which they all achieved. If this doesn't make you want to be a professional stunt person for a living, I don't know what will!

Fan Goes Nuts Seeing Gal Gadot and Chris Pine in First Set Video from WONDER WOMAN 1984

We recently got our first set photos of Wonder Woman 1984, and now we have our first set video. The video was taken by a really excited fan as Patty Jenkins starts working with Chris Pine and Gal Gadot on the scene they’re working on. Pine spots the fan though and starts imitating her and she cannot contain her excitement anymore. I will admit, I probably would’ve reacted very similarly if I had been in her shoes and I am not ashamed. The question still remains of what on earth Pine is even doing there as he doesn’t look aged and his character from Wonder Woman seemingly died. My best guess is either a ghost or Hades. How would you have reacted to being noticed by Pine or anyone else on set?

The Director of ATLANTA and THIS IS AMERICA is Helming a New Sci-Fi Thriller Called MAN ALIVE

Hiro Murai, the director of Donald Glover's Atlanta and the recent hit music video for This Is America, is in talks to helm his first feature film. The film is a sci-fi thriller called Man Alive and it's set up at 20th Century Fox.

Man Alive covers the events following the invasion of earth by an alien species, when a man faced with isolation and loneliness in order to survive realizes he might not be alone after all.

Noah Hawley (Legion) is set to produce and the script for the film was originally written by Joe Greenberg and is currently going through a rewrite by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows).

Murai also has directed episodes of Bill Hader's fantastic HBO series Barry along with episodes of FX’s Legion and Snowfall

The guy has worked on some great TV series and it's cool to see that he's going to get a shot at directing a movie. I hope that it turns out great for him!

We recently learned that Jordan Peele had met with Disney and told them that he wanted to make a live-action Gargoyles movie. Fans of the classic animated series have been wanting to see Disney make this movie for years, but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

I don't know if Disney will ever make a live-action Gargoyles movie, but that isn't stopping the fans from envisioning what a film might look like. We have an impressive fan film here for you to watch created by Carlos Ferrer who says:

"I made this film as a fan of the original Gargoyles animated series for fans alike and newcomers who may not be familiar with the show - enjoy!"

He directed, animated, and scored the film and as you'll see, it actually turned out pretty awesome for a fan film. Check it out and tell us what you think!

More Cool New AQUAMAN Photos Show Patrick Wilson’s Orm Come Face to Face with Aquaman

more-cool-new-aquaman-photos-show-patrick-wilsons-orm-come-face-to-face-with-aquaman-social.jpg

We've got five new photos to share with you from director James Wan's Aquaman! They come from EW and one of the coolest images features our first look at Patrick Wilson's Orm coming face to face with Jason Mamoa's Aquaman. Orm is the half-brother King of Aquaman and he wants to declare war on the surface world.

The other images include Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna holding a young Arthur Curry. Amber Heard as Princess Mera is with Aquaman and they are embarking on a journey on the surface world. Then there's a behind-the-scenes shot of Wan directing the actors. That photo includes Aquaman’s mentor Vulko, who is played by Willem Dafoe. All you can see is the back of his head, though.

All of the actors shown here look great in the roles that they are playing in the film! Earlier we posted an Aquaman cover for EW along with a first look at Black Manta. You can check those out here. Check out the additional images below and let us know what you think! Do they get you excited for the movie?

Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface.

Aquaman is set to be released December 21, 2018. Hopefully, we get that first trailer soon!
