Details Regarding Arthur Curry’s Journey in AQUAMAN Revealed and He’ll Wear His Classic Costume

Some new story details have surfaced for James Wan's Aquaman and it involves the journey that Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) finds himself on in the film. There's still a lot we don't know about the story, but this is a pretty big piece of information.

Aquaman will be searching for the King's Trident while simultaneously trying to stop Orm the Ocean Master's mission of invading and attacking the mainland. Unit publicist Ernie Maluk had this to say during a recent press event:

"Aquaman goes on this quest to find out where the true trident, the king's trident, is."

It's explained that the Quindent Aquaman used in Justice League is "not this trident, the dead king's trident, which is really the trident you want. With this trident, you can control the whole ocean, everything. But only a true king can wield it in their culture."

It was also revealed that Aquaman will at some point be sporting his classic comic book costume. When talking about wearing the classic the costume, Momoa said, "James [Wan] definitely wants to keep it just like the original."

I think we got our first look at Aquaman in his classic costume with the Trident in the photo that James Wan shared yesterday. While talking about the motivation behind Orm wanting to attack the mainland, Momoa explains:

"If I don’t step in and intervene, Orm’s just gonna take over the land. You think about all the harm we’ve done to the oceans, and are still doing, and if you lived under there, you would absolutely despise and hate these people that lived up there. Why wouldn’t you send a tsunami and just wreck the whole place? Why wouldn’t you? You burn up your cars and take the fossil fuels and put acid rain in the ocean and why wouldn’t you?"

The first trailer for the film will be released later this week, so stay tuned for that!

Aquaman also stars Willem Dafoe as Vulko; Amber Heard and Mera, Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Get Down) as Black Manta; Ludi Lin (Power Rangers) as Murk; with Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna. Here's the synopsis:

Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface.

Aquaman is set to be released December 21, 2018.

Bruce Willis Says DIE HARD is Not a Christmas Movie!

A lot of fans of Die Hard consider the film a Christmas movie. It always tends to end up on people's lists of favorite Christmas movies. I always watch Die Hard during the holiday season! However, Bruce Willis doesn't feel the same what about it.

During the taping of Comedy Central's Bruce Willis roast, the action star had something to say about the matter. Apparently, towards the end of the taping, Willis addressed the fans, specifically stating that:

"Die Hard is not a Christmas movie, it's a goddamn Bruce Willis movie."

Later on, the actor was approached and asked how he thinks fans would respond to the statement. He simply said, "We’ll see."

I 100% agree that Die Hard is a Bruce Willis movie! You can't argue with that! But, it can also be a Christmas movie as well, so regardless of what Willis says, Die Hard is staying on my list of favorite Christmas movies!

What do you think about what Willis had to say? Do you consider Die Hard a Christmas movie?

Duncan Jones Confirms He’s Directing a 2000 AD ROGUE TROOPER Movie

Director Duncan Jones (Moon, Mute) has been teasing a new comic book film project that he is going to direct. In a recent Tweet he posted a video where he pretty much confirmes that project will be an adaptation of 2000 AD's Rogue Trooper.

Jones has been saying for awhile that he has been interested in making a Rogue Trooper movie and now it looks like it's all coming together for him! I'm a big fan of Jones' work so I'm pretty excited for him. Jones previously said:

"But I kinda feel like where my heart lies, if I were gonna go in the comic book direction, it would be in the British stuff just because I am British. So 2000 AD where Judge Dredd came from, has an amazing cast of characters. And I think if I were ever gonna do a comic book character, it would probably be one of those.
"Dredd was great, but there are like Slaine, and Rogue Trooper, and all of these amazing British characters that are over here, people don’t know about. So if I can find a way to get the budget to do one of those, which is difficult because they’re not known about… Those would be amazing movies, it’s just because they’re not known about. How do we make that work? But we’ll see. I would rather focus on trying to do a 2000 AD character."

For those of you not familiar with the Rogue Trooper comic it was created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981.

It follows the adventures of Rogue, a "Genetic Infantryman", a genetically created, blue-skinned, manufactured super soldier and his three comrades' search for the Traitor General. His comrades are in the form of biochips – onto which a G.I.'s entire personality is downloaded at the time of death for later retrieval – and are named Gunnar (mounted on Rogue's rifle), Bagman (on his backpack) and Helm (on his helmet). He is genetically engineered to be immune to almost all known toxins, can submerge in strong acid unaffected, and is able to withstand a vacuum in his bare skin.

I'm pretty pumped up for this and I think that Jones is going to end up giving us an awesome feature film adaptation!

Director Denis Villeneuve is Casting Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides in DUNE

As you all know by now, Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve is developing a new feature film adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. Now he is casting the first star to be in it. According to DeadlineTimothee Chalamet (Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name) is in negotiations to star in the film as Paul Atreides.

Set in the distant future, Dune follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.

Chalamet seems like a talented young actor. He was nominated for an Oscar this year for Best Actor, so that says something. He certainly fits the role as well. I like that they are getting a young actor to play the character. In the novel, he's only fifteen years old which Chalamet can easily pull off.

What do you think about Chalamet being cast in the role of  Paul Atreides in the film?

Here’s a Great New Photo From DC’s SHAZAM! Showing The Hero’s Light Up Costume

DC Entertainment has released a new photo from Shazam! and it's the first official image that we've seen where the character isn't drinking a soda! This one actually shows off his cool light-up costume! Once again, Shazam (Zachary Levi) is hanging out with his best friend Freddy Freeman, who is played by Jack Dylan Grazer.

The photo comes from EW, and they also provide the following story details:

In the film, Billy (whose younger version is played by Disney Channel star Asher Angel) is assigned to a new foster home where he befriends comic book superfan Freddy. One day, Billy’s subway ride is interrupted by a mysterious Wizard (Djimon Hounsou) who’s been searching for ages to find the right successor to inherit his powers. He reveals the teen’s been selected to gain an assortment of abilities, and all it takes is for Billy to say “SHAZAM!”

This is the previously released synipsis:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).

Shazam! also stars Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (This is Us) as Mary; Eugene, played by Ian Chen (Fresh Off the Boat); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (TV’s Hawaii Five-O). Cooper Andrews of The Walking Dead and Marta Milans (Killer Women) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez. Then there's Djimon Hounsou who was cast in the role of the 3,000-year-old sorcerer who ends up giving young Billy Batson his powers.

Shazam! will be released on April 5, 2019.

The Line Up of Characters Has Been Revealed For Margot Robbie’s DC Film BIRDS OF PREY

Thanks to The Wrap, we now have a solid list of characters who will appear in DC Entertainment's upcoming film Birds of Prey, which will focus on a group of female heroes and villains. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will be joined by Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya.

The report also states that the villain in Birds of Prey will be a Batman comics villain who has never appeared on the big screen before. They don't say who that villain will be, though. There are so many villains in Batman's rogue gallery, it's hard to even guess who it might be.

Here's a rundown of the Birds of Prey characters for those of you who aren't familiar with them already:

Black Canary, aka Dinah Laurel, is a fantastic hand-to-hand combatant who comes from a family of crime fighters. Her father, Larry Lance, was a police officer, while her mother (also named Dinah) was the original Black Canary.
Helena Bertinelli, aka Huntress, is a vigilante operating out of Gotham City.
Cassandra Cain is one of the world’s greatest martial artists, and also a vigilante.
Renee Montoya is a detective working for the Gotham City Police Department. Montoya is openly lesbian, and during The New 52 comics she takes on a costumed identity, becoming the Question.

It was previously reported that the director and producers were looking to bring together a diverse cast for this movie, so it will be interesting to see who they end up casting in these roles.

The movie is being developed by Robbie, director Cathy Yan and writer Christina Hodson (Bumblebee). It's being developed as an R-rated film that Robbie previously described as a "girl gang film". She explained;

"I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it."

It'll be awesome to see these DC characters all come together on the big screen. Have you liked what you've heard about the film so far?

These were done as a private commission so unfortunately, they aren't available for sale, but at least you can bask in their glory online. The poster above featuring a horde of Xenomorphs is the variant edition and the one below with Ripley and Newt on their way to kill the Queen is the regular edition. These are just extremely cool and striking visuals. You can check out more of Kurtz's work here.

ZOMBIELAND 2 Officially Moves Forward with the Original Cast!

About a month ago Zombieland screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese said that they were working on Zombieland 2 and that they were going to bring the full original cast back for a new adventure in the post-apocalyptic world.

Well, according to THR the sequel is officially moving forward and the original cast is indeed returning! That cast includes Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin. I absolutely love that Emma Stone is coming back to the franchise after her career blew up and she became an Academy Award-winning actress.

Ruben Fleischer, the director of the original film will also be back to helm it. This news just makes me happy. The film is set to begin production in January 2019 and will be released in October 2019, in time for the 10th anniversary of the original movie. Here are some details on the story that were shared:

The new movie will once again put the focus on comic mayhem, taking the quartet from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But, most of all, according to the studio, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

These story details fall in line with the previously rumored plot details, which starts out with:

ZOMBIELAND TOO opens with a question. What would happen if we ran out of zombies? An interesting concept, one that hasn’t been explored in any film of the genre thus far. The way the film approaches answering the question is both hilarious and depressing. The change from ‘zombies’ to ‘no zombies’ can be considered as big as the change from ‘no zombies’ to ‘zombies.’ It’s such a dramatic transformation to one’s routine, what they consider normal, that it fundamentally alters their mentality. Boredom and apathy seep into each person’s psyche, slowly growing discontent with one another until they reach an inevitable boiling point. Okay… maybe I’m a little dramatic. ZOMBIELAND, TOO opens with that question, yes. But it doesn’t really ever dwell on it. A strength, I believe, as the film could’ve fallen into a bout of angst if it explored that concept to the nth degree. That is not what ZOMBIELAND is all about. Instead, the primary focus of the narrative is a quest to find a missing member of the party from the first film.

There are some other details regarding the film and the characters that you can read up on here. Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch had this to say in a statement.

"This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail. These are some of the most in-demand actors and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters. We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work on Venom has been truly amazing."

I loved Zombieland and I'm excited that this sequel is actually happening! I know a lot of people were skeptical, but now it's official. Are you excited about this!?

Joss Whedon Has Developed a Sci-Fi Victorian Drama Series For HBO Called THE NEVERS

Joss Whedon is headed back to TV and he has landed a straight-to-series order at HBO for a Victorian drama that he created called The Nevers.

The series is described as "an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies and a mission that might change the world."

I'm in! That sounds like one of the most Joss Whedon things that Joss Whedon has come up with. He will serve as the writer, director, executive producer, and showrunner of the series. This is 100% Whedon's show and I can't wait to see what he ends up delivering! Whedon had this to say in a statement:

"I honestly couldn't be more excited. The Nevers is maybe the most ambitious narrative I’ve created, and I can’t imagine a better home for it than HBO. Not only are they the masters of cinematic longform, but their instant understanding of my odd, intimate epic was as emotional as it was incisive. It's been too long since I created an entirely new fictional world, and the HBO team offer not just scope and experience, not just 'prestige,' but a passionate collaboration. I could go on, but — I’m impatiently grateful to say — I have work to do."

HBO programming president Casey Bloys added:

"We have long been fans of the incredibly talented and prolific Joss Whedon and we can’t think of a better project than The Nevers with which to welcome him to the HBO family. We look forward to meeting the strange, multifaceted characters of The Nevers, to learn their stories, see them in action and share them with our viewers. We’re honored that Joss chose HBO as the place to build his ambitious new world and we are excited to get started."

There's now information on how many episodes that the series will get or when it will premiere, but it's great to see Whedon passionate again about an original project that he's developing. I'm more excited about this than anything that he would have done with the Batgirl movie at DC.

What do you think about Whedon's new project?
